We have spent a lot of time discussing Kevin Hearne’s series, Iron Druid Chronicles. Now, I figured it would be a good time to talk about the different religions that come into play.
Atticus O’Sullivan is a Druid. Unfortunately, not much is known about the Druids of Old today. When the Romans were on a rampage, conquering all the land and religions in sight, the Druids were eradicated, along with several other religions (reference). But, people who are following the path of their ancestors have found that Neo-Druidism is an acceptable path for them to feel connected to the family members that came before them and connected to the Earth.
Now, Atticus worships the Irish pantheon of Gods and Goddesses. Regularly, at Sabbats, paying his respects to both Brighid and the Morrigan. Both are Tuatha Dé Danann, which is a race of people in Irish mythology. Though Christian influence will have you believe that Tuatha Dé Danann are “heroes of the distant past”, there is literature that exists that drops hints about the “divine status” of this intriguing race of people (reference).
